The Threat to Ignorance
In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and imposters go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:12-15 NIV)
During the latter half of the last century, “God’s Smugglers” waged a war on ignorance. Where atheistic governments restricted God’s Word, the Spirit led in Brother Andrew and his band. Saints working underground were the flame, the Word the smugglers carried was the gasoline. In my opinion, it was the Bible that smashed the Iron Curtain. This we know, when souls are enlightened by God’s Word, the thrones of tyrants collapse, and Satan is defeated.
In the secular West, a similar war is underway. The Lord is recruiting fearless soldiers, like Brother Andrew. He is preparing them with foreheads of flint with which to overcome every obstacle. The prize is inside. In an age of deceit, finding the jewels, that is workmen. Arming these soldiers with prophetic truth is what will bring Satan down.
The notion that Revelation and other prophecy should be left to “experts” was hatched in hell.
It is certainly not Bibles that America and the West lack; it is knowledge, particularly on the subject of the last days. Oh, we have Bibles–plenty of them. But Satan has countered the proliferation of Bibles with a campaign of his own. His three-stage assault has, first of all, kept the masses from wanting to open God’s Word, or, once it is opened and read, from applying it to their lives
Next, the sin-darkened world hates the teaching of Scripture or its being discussed in the market place of ideas. That is why the enemy had Bibles removed from public schools. Once God’s Word is available, it must be blocked by other means. That includes ridicule and mischaracterization in the media or various kinds of threats.
Lastly, Satan’s fall back position is dissuading spiritual leaders and Bible-students from studying prophetic texts. “Persuade the lazy, naive and gullible,” that is the ploy of deceiving spirits. “Convince them to focus their energies on other aspects of Bible Truth. More so, have them adopt a mindset that prophecy is not understandable.” The notion that Revelation and other prophecy should be left to the “experts”, was hatched in hell. Though Scriptures abound, the fight is still against ignorance.
What are the implications of so many being ignorant of this great fact?
Scripture alone is able to make us wise unto salvation, yet it must be ignited by a faith in what God had written. The context of Paul’s message to Timothy (above) was a warning. Knowledge of prophecy would save the young Timothy from evil as well as save him for a supremely good purpose.
In our previous post, “Disinformation from the Pulpit”, the statement was made most Christians are clueless about Antichrist’s appearance. They do not know he will be revealed first and have authority until the Lord Jesus returns (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4). What are the implications of so many being ignorant of this great fact? Jesus himself has told us ahead of time (Matthew 24:22-25). But what if we do not read this prophecy and assimilate it as truth?
Paul encouraged Corinthian saints to stop quibbling over lesser matters, like spiritual gifts, and look ahead to prophecy (1 Cor. 14:1-5). Why this counsel? It was so they would put everything in the context of what’s coming; then they will stand against Satan’s schemes. Ignorance of the future had to be obliterated. Why are more not following this wisdom?
Since time began, the enemy has been ignorance, not flesh and blood.
For Satan, those who resist knowledge and promote falsehood are useful tools. Promoters of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture (PTR) view are not of the devil. Teachers who brain-wash students into believing Christ’s return is imminent, or “any moment”, are not the enemy. PTR attack dogs who slander writers who oppose them are not who we war against. According to 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, it is their ideas that must be torpedoed, not their reputations or lives. Thoughts must be taken captive, not Christians with different views. Since time began, the enemy has been ignorance, not flesh and blood.
Unfiltered understanding of what God spoke to his servants the prophets will set his workmen ablaze for Jesus. Today, these workmen are feeling sick over what the Church has become. A foundation of Pre-Wrath Rapture understanding threatens the darkness by exposing the myths.
If God wills, the semi-completed Prophets, Priests and Kings’ Series will provide some petrol. If so, it will need the Lord’s flame. Anyone ready?
