any moment rapture

Imminent or “any moment” has been applied to the rapture of the saints in England and the U.S. since the late 1800’s. As to the timing of Our Lord’s return, a majority of those who believe in a literal, physical coming of Christ in the clouds are convinced it is imminent.

Thanks to Pre-tribulation Rapturism (PTR)–which is rooted in Dispensational theology–“any moment” has worked its way into our Christian culture. “No more signs are necessary,” they say. That is simply not true, but don’t try and discuss the doctrine’s problems with a PTR zealot. The book “Lifesaver: Saving God’s People from the PTR Ship” explodes PTR’s major arguments and exposes the errors of a very popular teaching on Bible prophecy.

I’d like to propose a different Doctrine of Imminency. I contend that “any moment” does apply to the Day of Disaster spoken of in Joel 2 and elsewhere in the Bible. It’s coming on the country I call home, the U.S.A. It would take more time than there is remaining to list all the signs supporting this view. If you are a doubter–and I understand why the doubts–read the prophecy in Jeremiah. It will be like reading tomorrow’s newspaper. What does the prophet Jeremiah have to do with destruction coming on America and the West? The answer is in the early part of the 1st chapter: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you… I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jer.1:5 NIV). Jeremiah lived in Judah. He prophesied in Jerusalem. His calling, however, was to be a prophet to the nations. “Nations” can translate as “Gentiles” also. That’s us, folks! God, through Jeremiah, warned us 2600 years ago.

An invading army awaits the attack order from God –only they don’t know it’s God. Signs that this was coming have appeared for decades. China has long been on the rise militarily, economically and technologically. It is now unmistakeable. With Western assets of infrastructure and natural resources, we are now in the cross-hairs. We are now ripe for the picking. The latest revelation, according to our experts, is that our communication and military “spy in the sky” satellites are easy targets for China’s anti-satellite missiles.

Do not expect the day of disaster to be a conventional type of invasion. As I see it, all China needs to do is call in our debt. We owe them $ trillions and our monetary policy of printing more dollars devalues the bonds they hold. Inflating our currency does not go down well with our Chinese creditors. Failure to make good on our debt payment will be followed by the standard banking procedure for those who go into default. Seizure of the borrower’s goods or foreclosure.

The Day of Disaster will begin with a powerful surge, boom or force. Lights will go out, phones will die, TV and computer screens will go to black. Practically all land transportation will come to a permanent stop and, yes, tragically, planes without their computer-based systems will fall from the sky. Depending on the time of year, no air-conditioning and no heat for public utility dependent city-dwellers or suburbanites. No city water and no gas in population centers because all systems using computer chips were knocked out by the detonation of an electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) weapon in the atmosphere.

The EMP’s were carried by missiles launched from Chinese cruisers off the Western Coast of the U.S. and Canada. Think of life as it was in 1870, before the phone, the electric light bulb, gas stoves, or the automobile; then we have the picture–excluding the reminders of idle, worthless technology that will permeate the landscape.

Once Americans realize their military is helpless, their creature comforts are gone and they are at the mercy of desperate looters, many will beg the Chinese to come and save them. Be careful what we ask for. There is one Savior and his name is Jesus.

The Chinese will have two basic criteria for sparing lives: They must not pose a threat and they must be useful as a worker. This is God’s plan to bring his people in the West to repentance, to chastise those he loves for a multitude of sins (cf. Hebrews 12:4-13) and to prepare the world for the ascendancy of the antichrist. Any moment means any moment. Pray this does not happen in winter.

Question 12- What would you like readers of Lifesaver to take away from the experience?

Answer 12-I hope that they’d say the book was fair. I hope they appreciate the objective way I presented my case with Scripture. I hope they realize after reading Lifesaver that truth matters. I hope they can see that Christians can disagree without making the other side out to be villains. I hope they can process everything and be able to take a stand against popular opinion. And, I guess, I want them to know if a brother or sister supports the “any moment rapture” position, it doesn’t mean they have horns. It only means they do not fully understand what the Bible teaches or correctly interpret prophecy–therefore, they are in trouble of being deceived.
