” You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and these words which I command you today shall be in your heart….. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-6,8, NKJV).

Last week I texted a friend and asked him: “Why would the antichrist cause people to take a mark specifically on the right hand or on the forehead?” I left him with the following scriptures to read (Exodus 13, Deuteronomy 6 and Daniel 7:25). His response was merely: “Good question!” I followed up with him this past Sunday night over a late dinner. The answer truly reveals the evil of Satan and the antichrist. My  friend looked at me wide-eyed and made a commitment to dig deeper into scripture and particularly into prophecy.

God calls for His law (the Commandments) to be written on the hearts and minds of His people. The ordinance for Israel to follow the Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread was to be a similar sign on His people’s hands and foreheads. It was to be a permanent remembrance of the goodness of the Lord and how HE delivered His people out of bondage from Egypt. So when Daniel is told that the “beast” will try to change the set times and laws (Daniel 7:25) we can know that this is Satan’s attempt to remove God out of the minds and hearts of would be believers.

We use our right hand and place it over our hearts when we make a pledge. Imagine a person proclaiming to be Jewish or Christian but following half-heartedly. It would be easy for that individual to be deceived into taking the mark. This sign comes with a pledge to worship the beast and the dragon.  The deceived is now sealed with death which will ultimately lead him/her into the Lake of Fire. (Gehenna), Christians, now is the time to fight and advance against the deviil’s armies. In the next post, I will show why the armor of God is the perfect defense against Satan’s strategies.  EJ

” Be dressed for action and have your lamps lit, be like those who are waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that they may open the door for him as soon as he comes and knocks…… If he comes during the middle of the night or near dawn, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.” (Luke 12:35-36, 38, NRSV).

The most popular teaching on the return of Jesus is that He can return at any time. I hear over and over when I discuss the end times with someone that “no one knows the day or the hour.” However, within several parables, Jesus presents us with clues as to the time of His return. The main message is to be alert and prepared. In Mark 13:35, Jesus actually tells us that the master can return anywhere from evening until dawn. We learn from Luke, that the return may be anywhere from midnight until dawn. The King of the Universe wants us to be able to answer the call when he returns and those who are ready will not be surprised or caught off-guard. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-8).

The Olivet Discourse stresses the need to be on high alert and the faithful servant who is obedient will be given more authority when the master returns. (Matthew 24:45-48). The parable of the 10 bridesmaids shows the difference between the foolish and the wise. They all waited for the bridegroom but he was delayed. The unwise virgins did not have enough oil for their lamps so they had to go buy more. While they were gone, the bridegroom (who represents Jesus) returned and took only the obedient and prepared maidens into the wedding banquet. (Matthew 25:1-13) Midnight (Jerusalem time) is the common denominator in all 3 gospels. God is not delaying His return but is patient wanting all to come to repentance. Yet that Day will come like a thief in the night for those who do not heed the Scriptures. (2nd Peter 3:9-10). EJ

” Again the word of the Lord Almighty came to me. ‘ This is what the Lord Almighty says: The fasts of the fourth (Tammuz), fifth (Av), seventh (Tishri), and tenth (Tevet) months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore, love truth and peace.’ (Zechariah, 8:18-19, NIV).

For the Jewish people, Tammuz 17 until Av 9 is a time of mourning, reflection and a heartfelt outreach to Yahweh. Historically, it was a time where Israelites have felt that God was “hiding His face” from them. This time period is known as “Between the Straits” (Lamentations 1:3, KJV). On the morning of Tammuz 17, there is a fast in remembrance of the city walls of Jerusalem being breached by the Babylonians (586 B.C.) and by the Romans (70 A.D.). Av 9 laments the destruction of the first and second temples.

Is it any wonder that Israel’s enemies are attacking her during this time period? Egypt tried to broker a cease fire on Tammuz 17 (July 15). For six hours the IDF did not fire into Gaza. Hamas, however rejected the cease fire and fired 50 rockets. The war has escalated and the enemy of Zion is losing. Israel discovered that Hamas was planning to use the underground tunnels in Gaza to infiltrate Jewish cities on Tishri 1 (Rosh Hashanah), the first of the 3 fall high holy days (September 24/25). This has caused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to pursue the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip.

The enemies of God will not go down quietly. Satan opposes the saints and seeks to change the set times and laws. (Daniel 7:25). The deceiver knows that Jesus will return and turn these days of mourning into feasts of joy. For Satan’s puppets, Israel must be eliminated. Av 9 (August 4/5) is the next day of importance. Evil will intensify and a major event will occur. Those who truly seek The Almighty will be redeemed. We must stand by Israel no matter the cost!- EJ

“By Faith Noah, warned by God about events as yet unseen, respected the warning and built an ark to save his household; by this he condemned the world and became an heir to the righteousness that is in accordance with faith.” (Hebrews 11:7 NRSV).

As we prepare ourselves for the end of the age, Noah is the perfect model to follow. Jesus himself tells us that the days before the coming of the Son of Man will be very similar to the days of Noah. (cf: Matthew 24:37-39). Like Noah, we must heed God’s warnings and reach out to prepare those who are wrapped up in their own lives.

Noah was a righteous man, who was blameless among the people of his time. (Genesis 6:9). Blameless is defined in Psalm 19:13 as “being kept from willful sin.” So, in preparing ourselves to be more than conquerors we must repent of our transgressions and trust completely in God’s plan and provisions.

Furthermore, Noah had God’s precepts and prophecies written on his heart. This is important to understand because there will come a time when it will be unlawful to own a Bible. We must have the Holy Spirit increase in us as our flesh decreases. Only by understanding The Word internally will we be able to walk with the Lord and be preachers of righteousness.

As in Noah’s time, we will have to rely on our feet to spread the message of God’s word. Global media communications and transportation will be severely limited as wars and worldwide disasters affect all electronic devices. We must be prepared to travel like the apostles did and accept divine instruction. (Acts 8:26-40).

Finally, we must be ready for the scoffers. God’s message through Noah fell on many deaf ears to the point that only 8 were saved. Faithful warriors for Christ will forget what is behind and strain toward what lies ahead. (Philippians 3:13). EJ

Withitness

While taking education courses in the late 1980s, I was introduced to the term “withitness”. I learned it meant what it implied, “an aptitude for being with it”. A teacher needs to be aware of his/her environment. Educators should know the strengths and weaknesses of their students. Nothing surprises them because of vigilance and the continual pursuit of “withitness”. This concept is relevant in understanding Biblical prophecy.

An effective prophecy instructor understands Scripture as a whole, not separate parts. The mantra of a prophet is “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Revelation 19:10). The Amplified Bible explains this by stating that the spirit of prophecy is “ the vital breath, the inspiration of Biblical preaching regarding God’s divine will and purpose for the last days. The Greek/English Lexicon defines forgiveness as not only accepting the repentance of another but remembering it no more (throw it away.) The Holy Spirit reveals truth, so different interpretations mean that someone is restraining The Advocate from making God’s Word plain. As stated in the previous post, some Bible teachers say we are not to know God’s plan for the future salvation of his people. However, Amos 3:7 proclaims the opposite. “Surely, the Sovereign Lord does NOTHING without revealing His plan to His servants, the prophets.”

When we realize the Lord wants us to know what he’s doing, then we are “with it”. We then possess the foundation to accurately handling prophecy.

Matthew 18:21-22 gives us a great example that contrasts application with Scripture’s proper interpretation. In this account, the Apostle Peter asks Jesus a question: “ Lord, how many times should I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”  Jesus responded, Not 7 times but seventy times seven.” The Greek/English Lexicon defines “forgiveness” as “accepting the repentance and letting the transgression go”. Notice that Jesus gave Peter a specific number. Does 70 times 7 mean we must forgive as many times as we are asked? Does it mean we forgive an infinite number of times? I heard these explanations from pulpits. Jesus desires that we always forgive out of a loving heart, but what I was taught was an application not the correct interpretation.

To understand what our Lord meant, we must look elsewhere for the term 70 times 7. We find it in Daniel 9:24. Interestingly, Jesus, the Messiah, refers to Daniel in Matthew 24:15 in the context of the sign of His coming and of the end of the age. There Jesus exhorted us, “Let the reader understand.” The disciples with him on the Mount of Olives were “hearers.” We are the readers. (This is awareness or withitness). So to grasp the full meaning of 70 times 7, then Daniel 9:24 must be studied in depth.

Daniel is pouring over the Book of Jeremiah. He seeks an answer from God on how long Judah will remain in captivity. He found that 70 years was prophesied and the time was almost up. God’s message was intended for Daniel to pass on to us, we who will be in Christ at the end of this age.

“Seventy sevens (weeks) are decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint THE MOST HOLY PLACE.”

This is quite a revelation.  Leviticus 25:8 refers to “weeks” as seven years. Four hundred ninety years are decreed for Daniel’s people, the Israelites, all twelve tribes. At the end of the 70 weeks, the transgressions and sins of Israel will be atoned for and remembered no more.

Yahweh, the Lord, introduced Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, to yearly cleanse his people.  Four hundred and ninety prophetic years will be how long it takes for all Israel to recognize Jesus as Savior and receive cleansing by His Blood. Then their sin will be gone forever and everlasting righteousness, JESUS HIMSELF, will be ushered in.

Yom Kippur is the ultimate fulfillment of the 70 weeks. It also indicates what day this age will end on (sp. The Day of Atonement.)

God answered Daniel in a way that informed him the captivity would soon end. On the issue of forgiveness, Jesus enlightened Peter like the angel did Daniel. Four hundred and ninety prophetic years will be necessary to forgive Peter’s people. He, too, was an Israelite and a possessor of the spirit of prophecy. In time, this disciple would know what his Lord meant by the numbers 70 times 7. So prophecy teachers must yield to the Advocate as their guide. They are duty bound to harmonize Scripture; then ultimate truth will be realized and withitness will be manifest.-EJ

The enemy will do anything to prevent humankind from coming to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. He will kill many, create false religions or limit pro-creation. I maintain limiting pro-creation is the most diabolical. God gave the command in Genesis 1:28 to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. This order is given two more times to Noah (Genesis 9:1, 9:7). So if God decreed three times (3=the perfect witness) before the 10th chapter of the Bible’s first book, bearing fruit must be our highest priority.

Unfortunately, as individuals and as governments, we are used to blatantly disobeying Yawheh. For decades, China has enforced a policy of one child per family in order to control their population. White European birth rates have been in steady decline during the same period based on cultural or social norms. State-endorsed homosexuality mitigates against the possibility for new life while abortion murders God’s creation. Our Lord knows us BEFORE WE ARE FORMED IN THE WOMB.

I do believe an aborted soul is with Jesus, yet the evil goes further than taking one life. Every murdered fetus destroys the opportunity to produce fruit after its kind. So, with fewer fruit producers (laborers at harvest time), there is a smaller harvest for Christ at his coming. The deceiver knows prophecy. When the gospel reaches the four corners of the earth, the end of this age has come (Matthew 24:14). Then, he, the great dragon, will be chained in the abyss for 1000 years. Soon there will be a Millennium of obedience to the original decrees regarding pro-creation, without any devil-inspired interference (Revelation 20:1-2).

Think of it in common terms: How long would a worker remain on the job once it was learned they were taking unfinished product off the line and destroying it or intentionally slowing or limiting production? Every device from the pit of hell is geared to slow down human production and thus the evil one’s imprisonment. Abortion is an act of sinful defiance. It attempts to keep the world under the control of the god of this age while preventing the Creator’s image from covering the earth.

We must press beyond Satan’s schemes and look at the taking of a life as a terrible affront to the Most High. It is taking the sacred and callously disposing of it. As the previous post reminds, America continues to lead the way in carrying out Satan’s agenda. WE ARE STEALING FROM THE CREATOR! Paul taught this principle to Timothy when he said that a woman will be saved in child bearing if she continues in faith, love and holiness (1 Timothy 2:15). Pity the unrepentant who never asked forgiveness, but, instead, took their stand before the Creator and King of the Universe with the stain of innocent blood on their soul. EJ

The Bible is a pipeline between the past and the future. By understanding its history, we can see repeating patterns as current events unfold before our eyes. In the book of 1 Samuel, God tore the kingdom from Israel’s first king, Saul, due to his disobedience and unfaithfulness. In Chapter 16, God told Samuel, his prophet, to anoint a new king. David, the 8th son of Jesse, was chosen to lead God’s people (1 Samuel 16:1-13). It would take awhile before David wore the crown. Events had to play out. The young son of Jesse would have to prove his worthiness. He did just that by protecting the Israelite army from the Philistine giant, Goliath–a job that King Saul should have embraced. Kings and leaders emerge after a lot of behind the scenes preliminaries.

Jesus was approached by Satan and was presented with 3 temptations. One of them that was posed by the devil offered Jesus the luxuries and wealth of earth in all their regal glory. Jesus never disputed that they these things belonged to Satan, the prince of this world, and that he could give them to anyone he chose. There was a price for this anointing by Satan: To have world dominion, worshiping the Prince of Darkness was mandatory. Jesus passed his test. He rebuked the devil by saying “It is written:…” and then quoted Scripture. Satan departed. (Matthew 4:8-10, Luke 4:5-8)

The importance of understanding the Bible’s past is that an anointing has probably already occurred. While we immerse ourselves in our daily lives, I believe Satan has approached his chosen one, possibly in an upper room somewhere or in a desert region. The devil has shown his candidate earth’s luxuries and glories, as he did Jesus. This man has accepted the offer and the price. He has freely worshiped Satan. Eventually the world will know him as the embodiment of evil.

Current events discussed on this website show that the world stage is being set. The beast is just waiting for the proper time to emerge and deceive the world. All but a few will believe he is the world’s savior. Pay attention to what happens over the next 2 years. Impending wars in the Middle East and the nullification and defeat of America as a major world power will bring the planet to its knees. Many will clamor for a king as Israel did before Saul was anointed. God will give the world what it wants. The antichrist will arise and lead many astray. The wise will heed the Bible’s warnings and shelter themselves in the ark of our true King, Jesus!–EJ

In understanding the dynamics of a conflict, I’m fond of using examples from a well-played game of chess.

Let’s say we have a chess game in which white and black have equally developed their position. It’s mid-game with no one able to claim a clear advantage. Then one side strikes by employing major strength (queen, bishop, knight) to threaten the opponent’s defenses. It is all but certain that if the attack does not succeed in keeping the pressure on until victory is won, the side that committed their resources will lose. Except in rare instances, poor aggressive strategies result in over-exposure and all but guaranteed defeat.

With the above in mind, a news item should catch our attention: The U.S. Commander in the Pacific (PACOM), Navy Admiral Samuel J. Locklear III, speaking on the record, warned that China is gaining dominance in the Pacific. What qualifies this as an “ominous” warning is that the Obama Administration placed Adm. Locklear in charge of the U.S. military “pivot” away from Europe toward the Asian-Pacific rim. It was a high-level power play to show U.S. strength, provide security to America’s trading partners in the region (other than China) and pressure China into a more cooperative or docile posture. Now after three years to evaluate their military policy, it appears this strategic move has backfired. This week, Chinese government news sources are reporting the U.S. has lost its grip in the Pacific.

Recent developments indicate the Chinese are more aggressive, not less. Their military production machine is in high gear. Their advancements are no longer countered by superior American technology. In what might have been termed a back and forth between strong opponents, the tide has turned. The U.S. has been left over-exposed, over-extended and guaranteed vulnerable to a well-planned counterattack. From a U.S. commander’s point of view, this newly declared pivot of power is ominous.

Of course, these events support my contention that with America’s relegation to a footnote in history, it will give rise to global chaos and the pre-ordained emergence of the Antichrist. The clock is ticking, not on the end of the United States, so much as on the end of the age. It was Jesus who declared three times within the last fifteen verses of Scripture: “I am coming soon!”  Does that catch our attention?
