“My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” (John 10:27-30 NRSV).

Eyeglasses help us see clearly when our eyesight is otherwise distorted. Scratches, smears and dirt on our lenses work against us. Clarity is essential to navigate our path, escape dangers and avoid obstacles.

It is the same way when we study Scripture. The lens of prophecy offers the gift of vision of the future. Observing “The 5 Basic Rules of Biblical Interpretation” (See our “Book Excerpts” section, Rules of Interpretation) is key to properly comprehending God’s Word.

Take Hanukkah for example. Today is the 5th day of the “Feast of Lights” which celebrates the Dedication of the Temple of God. Contrary to what many may believe, there are references to this feast in the Old and the New Testament. Note the reference from the New Testament’s Gospel of John: It was on the Festival of the Dedication that Jesus was in the portico of Solomon. There, in this area of the temple, he was asked if He was the Messiah (John 10:22-23).

Our Lord’s answer pierced his adversaries. ” I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me, but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep.” (John 10:25-26 NRSV).

Our King went on to declare that those who belong to him will hear his voice and will not perish (10:27-30). Because Jesus and the Father are One, the faithful cannot be snatched out of His hand. The Greek word that John’s Gospel employed is harpazo” (“to snatch”, “pluck”, “catch away”). It is identical to the word used in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 with regards to the rapture of the saints. (“Rapture” is taken from the Latin for “catching up” or “taking away in an upward direction”.)

Something amazing and prophetically significant is revealed, if we make the connection between the Feast Day and Jesus’ claim of authority. On Hanukkah, Our Lord not only affirms his oneness with the Father but alludes to his future coming. This is evidence the Festival plays a big role in the last days as well as in the age to come.

Hanukkah’s history will be explored in the next post, Part 2. EJ.

Why don’t science professors insert their opinion when teaching natural law? Why don’t teachers tell their math students the area of a right triangle is calculated by taking 1/3, not 1/2 the base x height? Nobody would dare challenge the laws of science or mathematical formulas and theorems, but academics often question the Bible. While proclaiming that Scripture is God’s Law, many pastors and theologians continue to use their platforms to alter prophecy.

All Bible-centered Christians should affirm the six principles (below) as inviolable and unchanging law:
1) The 5 basic rules for interpreting the Bible are to be strictly adhered to. (See “Book Excerpts” category for these rules)

2) God does not lie (Numbers 23:19). His Word is truth. (John 14:6, 17:17-19, 18:37-38, Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18)

3) The Lord does not change. (Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8, James 1:17)

4) The Law and the Prophets’ words MUST stand. Everything will literally be fulfilled. (Matthew 5:17, 26:54-56, Luke 24:25-27)

5) Adding to what God has decreed brings severe judgment. (Deuteronomy 4:2, Revelation 22:18)

6) Taking away from prophecy disqualifies the offender from sharing in God’s rewards. (Deuteronomy 4:2-7, Revelation 22:19)

A prime example of drawing inaccurate conclusions are the teachings of Amillennialists, those who deny, in the next age, Jesus will physically rule on earth 1000 years. This prominent “end times” Amillennialist view rejects a literal interpretation of prophecy including Revelation 20. It calls into question Isaiah 65:17-25 which supports Revelation 20. We learn from this Old Testament prophet that there will come a time when Yahweh rejoices in Jerusalem and delights in his people. No infant will die after a few years and men aged 100 will be considered youths. Humans will live extended lives similar to the days of a tree or people’s ages before the Flood. The ground will produce tremendous harvests and wolf and lamb will feed together (cf: Isaiah 11:6-9).

For those who deny a literal Millennium, yet preach from Isaiah at Christmas (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7) and during Holy Week (Isaiah 53) , there is a major problem: They deviate from the formula. “God does not change” and “What He says, WILL happen!” So beware Christian! Do not stray from Divine Law to endorse human ideas. The resulting answer will be false. The outcome for not following the formula is a guaranteed to be disastrous.EJ

When we read about  events that transpired in the Old Testament, it is important to study the New Testament in order to gain deeper insight. Abraham (the father of many nations) had faith in God and was considered righteous. He became a friend of the Lord and was able to speak boldly to Him. Genesis 22  makes the connection of Abraham to Jesus through the events that took place when YHWH commanded his friend to sacrifice Isaac (Abraham’s only son born of his wife Sarah). Isaac carried the wood needed for the burnt offering to Mount Moriah. (The future site of God’s Holy Temple built by King Solomon). The sacrifice of Isaac was not only an opportunity to test Abraham but to show him what the ALMIGHTY was going to do in order to attain salvation for all people.(cf: John 3:16). What we learn from Jesus’ words to the Pharisees in John Chapter 8 shows the connection that Abraham had to the Savior.

” Your forefather Abraham was extremely happy at the hope and prospect of seeing My Day; and he did see it and was delighted.” (John 8:56 Amplified Bible).

It was Abraham’s longing to see the salvation of God and he patiently endured the years. The events on Mount Moriah was the culmination of that Blessed Hope. The seeds were planted previously during a Divine Appointment of two righteous kings. Abraham returned from a campaign to rescue his nephew, Lot. Melchizedek, the king of Salem and high priest of YHWH, met him and brought bread and wine. God’s high priest blessed Abraham, then blessed the Creator Himself. When Melchizedek glorified God for delivering the enemies into the hands of Abraham, the father of nations responded by giving the priest a tenth of all he had. (Genesis 14:17-20).

A covenant was formed that day and the bread and wine were the offerings. They represented God’s plan of Salvation and the perfect sacrifice presented by Melchizedek. Jesus fulfills this covenant with His proclamation at the Passover meal. He states that the bread is His body broken and the wine is the Blood of the New Covenant, poured out for the forgiveness of sins.  (Matthew 26:26-28). Jesus thus followed in the holy order of Melchizidek and the “God Appointed” meeting the Lord set up for Abraham brought the hope and longing he had for the Savior.  EJ

Question 10- How important do you feel it is that people read The Prophets of God?

Answer 10- It couldn’t be more important. This is salvation we are talking about and what is more important than that? We are close to a time of great deceit. We will be surrounded by wolves in sheep’s clothing—perhaps even angels declaring another gospel—and most are unprepared. God will send his prophets but many will refuse to hear their message because they won’t be cool or charismatic. Many will perish because they believe the lie. What I have written is not an exhaustive study on what is about to take place, but it gives everyone something big they need to think about. I hope others will come along and pick up the subject and take it further into the Word.

Question 6- You previously wrote The People of God. What kind of response did you receive from it?

Answer 6- I decided that The People of God is a gem with a richness that few have yet to appreciate—but many will. At this time, I have not had the response I thought it would have. A vital part of book sales is marketing. Marketing my own writing is difficult for me. A customer who judges the book by me or by its cover may be reluctant to take it seriously. If that obstacle is overcome, the next one is reading for comprehension what I wrote to grasp the message that is there. The principle that was quoted by Jesus applies, “There is no honor for prophets in their hometown.” My focus is on writing and publishing my next book or other written materials while I have the opportunity.

Question 4- Why write The Prophets of God? What are you saying that other prophecy books have not said?

Answer 4- A few years ago, I was motivated to do a teaching seminar on “Prophets” based on a growing conviction that what we have in American Christian culture with the prophet label is quite different than what we see in Scripture. Elijah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist and Jesus are prophets. I developed an interest in the subject and then the insights came. One revelation was that before Jesus returns, he will send his prophets, forerunners like John the Baptist, to prepare the way for Christ. Prophets will expose the false prophets and priests for the phonies they are. We already have an invasion of false prophets in our day. Soon we will see God counter-attack with the true prophets of God. If there is another guide on this subject out there, I am not aware of it.

In Acts 7:9-10, we find this: “These men began to argue with Stephen, but they could not stand up against his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke. Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, ‘We have heard Stephen speak words of blasphemy against Moses and against God.’ “

What did Stephen say that stirred the hatred of the opposition? Those who argued with him schemed to have him stoned to death using the false charge of blasphemy. It wasn’t simply what this Spirit-filled follower of Jesus said, but how he said it. He spoke the truth boldly. Stephen exposed the most powerful religious leaders of his day as wolves in sheep’s clothing.

A veteran newsman interviewed the U.S. president in 2012 asking questions the American leader did not like. Afterwards, the TV anchor was the subject of an audit by the tax collection agency of the U.S., the Internal Revenue Service. The same journalist was later fired from his job.

A reporter from a major cable news network covered a story that showed America’s president in a less than favorable light. Not long after, the reporter’s phones were wired with an eavesdropping device—as was his parents’ home phone. The wiretapping was ordered by the U.S. Dept. of Justice.

What did these men do to instill the wrath of the federal government? They both spoke the truth boldly. They are in the company of Whistle Blowers.

In reality, prophets are whistle blowers. They bring liars and hypocrites out of hiding. That’s what Jesus did. Christ blew the whistle on those who ran Jerusalem’s temple. Jesus as well as John the Baptist called them what they were, “a brood of vipers”.

There are poisonous snakes in our day, too. They may appear harmless but they spew venom. If anyone blows the whistle on them, they will hatch an evil plot to silence the blower or make them pay for being outspoken.

I’ve made up my mind; I’d rather be in the company of whistle blowers, than stand with those who revile them (Psalm 1:1). That’s why the book “Lifesaver”. That’s why this simple book will be loved by some, yet hated by those it exposes.

America is the home of the cover-up. It has become an art form. When scandal hits, the three cardinal rules are: Admit nothing, deny everything and demand proof. The present administration and its minions have taken artful dodging to another level. They are masters of the craft using deception, obfuscation, buck-passing and shifting attention from the holes in their story.

In recent posts, I’ve focused on one of the scandals now before the American people—Benghazi.  Four died in service to their country when they were sent on a doomed mission. That is a fact. The truth of what happened and why has been much harder to gather.

My purpose is not to pile on the folks in charge for their alleged wrong-doings. Yes, evidence seems to indicate that the official explanation from Washington was fiction. Christian leaders, unwittingly or not, have been doing the same for a long time—and getting away with it.

Re: Benghazi, major media in the U.S. is reporting that initial info sent up the chain of command was “scrubbed.” In a series of emails between those involved in the president’s re-election and political-minded operatives in the State Department, references to “terrorism” or the al-Qaeda-related group responsible for the attack were deleted. Talking points eventually ended up with those in the government’s executive branch with access to the cameras and microphones.

Recently, emails were released to investigators. However, the surrendered communications do not cover the first 67 hours after reports of the attack hit Washington. Even so, what was given to Congress clearly shows a scenario was crafted that became the fiction our leaders told the public for a week.

In Lifesaver, I detailed how the PTR or Pre-tribulation Rapture storyline has been cleverly-crafted and “scrubbed” since it originated in the first part of the 19th century. Jesus offered facts when he said, “But before all these things, they will lay hands on you and persecute you.” (Luke 21:12)  What we hear from many in our pulpits, Bible schools and Christian media, has “scrubbed” all prophetic references to God’s people under-going a time of global persecution.  The official PTR version has evolved over the years. Names and events have disappeared or changed in its revisions. Rest assured the truth will stand. God’s Word will come to pass.

Question 4: Didn’t you state in your book that you were once a Pre-tribber?

Answer 4: I believed it in the way a child believes in Santa Claus or that the moon is made out of green cheese. I believed it because those in authority whom I respected, loved and admired told me that Jesus was coming again, and it could be today! They gave me a couple Bible verses to hang this belief on, sort of as evidence, and others were saying the same thing. So there you have it, case closed, PTR had to be right because all the radio preachers I loved to listen to were in agreement!

I believed it but other than a couple of trite sayings and those verses, I couldn’t defend it or teach it with confidence. The topic confused me so I basically didn’t want any part of explaining it as a pastor, this was the way it is and don’t ask questions.

This is where I think most pastors of conservative churches are stuck. They dutifully repeat what they are told. They don’t want trouble from the powers that be in and out of their church and they don’t want to know anything that contradicts what they’ve been taught either. It is sort of like parents who watch what is said to their kids about Santa. They become very angry if someone tells them there’s no Santa Claus. People can be very protective about things that are not true.

Question 3: If the Biblical evidence is as strong as you say for Pre-Wrath Tribulation, why do you suppose so many have adopted the Pre-Tribulation view?

Answer 3: My wise neighbor threw out a pearl of wisdom one day. He said, “Christians will hold on to a view, even if they don’t entirely understand it or agree with it, simply because they do not know of a better option.” I believe he nailed it. Pre-tribulationalism has had what amounts to a monopoly on the discussion of prophecy. They run a controlled media, (books, radio and TV), that excludes other interpretations even demonizing those who come up with them. They purposely have mischaracterized the Pre-wrath rapture position, which I show in the book. So, most remain Pre-tribulational. They lack the information needed to alter their position. It is sinister at its root. Keeping open debate on the subject of the prophecy of Scripture from those who want to hear it, evaluate it and make up their own mind, is a form of mind-control.
